What Is It All About?
Web Browsing security is the application of internet security to web users to protect networked data and computer systems from breaches of privacy or malware.
Browsing protection helps users to evaluate the safety of websites they visit and prevents them from unintentionally accessing harmful payloads.
By identifying websites that contain security threats, such as malware (viruses, worms, trojans) or redirects from phishing emails, browsing protection helps you avoid accessing the site and prevent the download from happening.
Secure Browsing Capabilities
Status browser unsupported version detection
Unsafe browsing activity monitoring
Unsafe downloading activity monitoring
Social engineering/phishing detection
Please note:
Only Google Chrome on desktop is supported
Protection is provided through a Chrome extension and is available on the main browser window by default, excluding Incognito mode. However, in accordance with Google Chrome's general policy for extensions, there is an option to manually enable it for use in Incognito mode.
Secure Browsing Distribution Options: Step-by-Step
The user will need to download and install a browser extension on their desktop device. There are two available distribution options for the tool:
Sending instructions via email:
Select the relevant customer
Go to the ‘Security Controls’ section and click on ‘Secure Browsing’
Click on the ‘Deploy’ button and select the ‘Send an Email’ option
Choose your desired option from the three available options:
Send Automatically: the end user will receive the Awareness campaign from Guardz’s email address. It’s quick and easy, but you won’t be able to edit the email - subject, copy, and email address it’ll be sent from.
Send from your email: your own email will open, and you’ll need to send the email from there. This will allow you to customize the email subject and the body fully. Please do not change the URLs.
Skip Email: you can assign the task to the users without sending them an official email.
2. Sharing a link (manually):
Select the relevant customer
Go to the ‘Security Controls’ section and click on ‘Secure Browsing’
Click on the ‘Deploy’ button and select the ‘for Chrome’ option
The download page of the Chrome extension opens, and then you may copy the URL and send it to the users
Please note: after installing and logging in to the extension, you can test the mechanism by navigating to one of the following URLs, where you should expect to see an issue detected.
Add the first string and then add the second one at the end of it "...com/s/.."
/s/phishing.html##
Issue Types and Remediations
Upon completing a scan, Guardz identifies and reports any issues around users accessing a malicious website, extension presence, etc.
You can take action directly on these issues to address and remediate them
Guardz saves the information on the suspicious websites visited to offer the customer a better view and understanding of their web activity
In any case, Guardz does not actively block access or notify the user, although it is very likely that Chrome will block access to many of the reported sites
